Day 7

Miles 2667.9 to 3297.3

Wendover Nevada to home livermore California.

Gas $$ spent $77.00

Woke up late and scurried to get our stuff together. Checked out of our room and grabbed some starbucks. Tried my luck on a penny slot with $2 lost it. Left casino / hotel around 11:30 am which I later discovered was 10:30 am. Fueled up and hit I-80 again

We Just learned that we really are in pacific time zone bye bye hour. Turns out we slept on the line that divides time. and my phone isn't crazy.

The drive today was filled with lots of Jokes and laughs along with conversations of California and anticipation of living in a new place.
There is a whole lot of nothing out here in nevada. But every gas station and mc donalds has slot machines.

We stopped for gas n Brian bought the worlds grossest smokes since the selection was slim and the next station was 200 miles away.

At one point of the drive brian Looked at me and said "I told u we wouldn't be in Nj forever" cause upon my return to Nj I was a lil bitter towards him for bringing me back. Now I'm not saying we will be in cali forever but it made me happy he remembered that conversation from 2 1/2 years ago.

All of a sudden out of no where a Flying tumble weed floated down from the sky at the car. Eekk.

Brian was amazed by the mini Dust devil tornados off in the distance.

You know your in nevada when you see Billboard ads for whore houses.
Bunny ranch style. The sign read,
Shot of tequila? cold beer ?lady to sit on your lap? come on in. We were laughing cause we had never seen such a thing.

I never knew nevada had So many prisons but then again 90% of the state is owned by the government.

We had to Cut out Yosemite of our road trip cause the Car not bear proof. And I don't want a bear to rain on my parade n destroy anything but we will be taking a trip there soon with a rental. Since brain says we don't have bear insurance.

We were discussing what the first people who made this journey had to go through. Wow Imagine being the pioneers that discovered all this and how many died taking this trip due to lack of water. Then we pulled off at a rest area and saw signs that we were traveling the California trail there are pictures explaining more about it. So interesting.

Farther down the road we saw a Big Brush fire under power lines and fire trucks speeding east to put it out.

There were Miles of charred ground from previous brush fires.

Around 5:30 we saw our first in n out burger. So good we stopped and gorged on their delicious food. On the way out Brian thought it would be a good idea to clean out the cooler.

There was a dirty drifer kid on the curb. Brian started talking to him turns out he was hopping trains cross country. Brian gave him my carrots cheese sticks and apple cause can't take it over the cali border due to the agriculture check point. He even gave the guy 5 cigarettes . The kid thanked him and said pay it forward. This made my day that there are other believers.
in the pay it forward movement.

Around 6pm we stopped in Reno interesting people. Saw a homless guy Guy starring at the ground. Ok back on the road.

Around 630 we crossed the border into cali. And entered the sierra Nevada mountains and the town of Tahoe which lake Tahoe is in. So beautiful. Brian was so excited these were his new home mountains.

At 7 we saw a sign for the pct trail head and pulled off and there was mountains of snow. The sign said it was the pct donner pass trail head. We took pictures and Brian ran down the trail so happy. Too many Mosquitos for me so I went back to the car.

After leaving the Sierra Nevada mountains we passed thru Sacramento and off to I-5 which leads towards la. Two freeways later we hopped off into our new home town. It was dark so it's going to be a surprise in the morning when we see our new surroundings.

We reached the house at 1030 but ended up waiting for Ed and dawn for our key since they were in route back from getting tattooed in Bakersfield . Around 11pm they got home and we got the grand tour of the house and put our stuff in our room. We stayed up chatting and sharing stories. I'm sleepy after this road trip. I will share more tomorrow. This blog doesn't end here. But I want to thank you all for reading and following us. And a big thank you to my car baby Mattie the toyota matrix for getting us here. And I'm so happy I switched to AT&T which gave me the great service across the USA so I could share our journey with you. Check back tomorrow for more and tons of pictures.
